CRICK ET.
Ou Saturday, the Foxton men did a few hours' good practice, under teams chosen and captained by Messrs Flower and Shore. Since the recent contest with Palmerston, | the Foxtonites have practised more regularly, but if they wish to regain their laurels, faoruo further improvement v necessary. j Tke Marion men tried conclusions with ' the rfandonians on Saturday. We hear the i match was drawn, but so far aa it had gone, i tho Saudon men were victorious. ! It is probable a match will shortly be i arranged between Foxton and Otaki. Tlie j i Otuki men are said to bo doing good prac- ( I tice under the captaincy of Mr W. H. j Siuicox. | ihe Palmorston men have prepared a | pitch off Broad-street, and as they have I lately put it in order, by ploughing, &o, ; the Foxton men may soon expect a chalj lenge for the return match. We also hear Mr Mitford is to wait afam the Palmerston Borough Council on Wednesday evening, and ask for permission to use tho east nide of tho Square aa a Cricket Ground. The difficulty iv tho way is, that the Council contemplate making paths across it, which of courso would spoil the ground for ! cricket. | A match, Pulmevston v. Sandon, takes j place next Saturday, at tho latter place.
