COMMERCIAL.
Wnnganui, Ocl.obor 23. Mr "Freeman E. Jackson reports as follows : — The yards to- nay were filled with cattle, sheep, and horses, and the bidding was brisk throiighout ; but prices for cattle were not equal to those of last sale — being about oa per head lower. reef was of good quality, and heavy weights. Quotations would be abouf 27s Gd the lOOlbs. Sheep were iv full supply, and were all sold under the hammer. Shorn ones were fair mutton, but not thoroughly fat. Wethers in wool, some pen s were really good, but the larger ones "went to the grazier. A large number of horses came forward — a number of them being of really good stamp— and realised oapital prices.
Cattle.— At the St Hill street yards 258 were sold, prices being— fat bullocks, £11 to £12 ss; cows, £8 12s 6d ; yearlings, £3 to £3 17s Cd ; cows, inferior quality, £4 12s 6d to £5 ; steers, three-year-olds, £7 to £7 10s ; mixed cattle, £4 lUs 6d to £5. Sheep. — 818 were penned. Wetherg, in wool, Us 6d to 15s ; shorn do, 0s to 9s 3d. Horses. — About 40 head were offered, a large proportion finding purchasers at the following quoiations : — Good hacks from £10 to £19 ; tmp horses, £15 to £.■■>'! 10.->. Lind.— Mr Dymock's was offered, but £9 10s not being considered sufficient by the vendor, it was withdrawn.
Exports.— 60 head of cattle, and 250 sheep.
