(per press agenoy.) The Wellington Libel Case.
WELLINGTON, Thursday, 7 p.m The Supreme Court has been oc« cupied all day over the action for libel brought by Blundell Bros, v Proprietors Evening Post, against Robert Gardner, late of the Evening Chronicle. Although Gardner has left the colony, and is not now connected with the Chronicle, the pro* prietors of that paper defended the action. Mr Tracers appeared for the plaintiffd, anJ the Attorney ' General, instructed by Moorhouse and Eds wards, for defendants. The Chief Justice presided. The jury, after an absence of about an hour, returned a verdict for plaintiff, damages £5. The Attorneyvieneral gave notice that he should, after sittings of the Court of Appeal, move that the verdict of the jury be set ,asido on the ground that three of the issues were answered in fawar of Jefejbd* ants. m :.m*& — —
