At the Sandon Committee meeting of the Railway Promoters, held on Saturday week, Mr. Henry Dawson was deputed to interview the Government upon the subject ofthe proposed line, and to ask whether the Government would work the railway when fiaished. Mr Dawson left for Wellington last Tuesday, and on Wed' nesday a deputation, consisting of the Hon. Mr Cambell, M.L.C, Mr W. Johnston, M.H.E.for Manawatu, and Mr Dawson, waited upon the Hon J. Macandrewj , Jlinister for Public Works, regarding the Sandon Eailway; i Mr Dawson, in; explaining the of the promoters, pointed out that the proposed line 1 would tap a ypheat-growing country, and would be an important lin^c in the railway communication en : the West Coast. Mi Macandrew said he was exceedingly glad to see the wp^k taken in band, and the Government would do all ;they could to assist the' promoters in pushing on tho workL ' Also when the line was. finished, < the Government would be willing to work it, providing it paid expenses.
