Chbistchxtrch, Monday, 7.30 p.m. At the stud-horse parade on Saturday, the finest lot of animals ever exhibited at one time in New Zealand were shown. There were 84 exhibits. At the sale subsequently, the highest prices realized, were — Time.of«day, draught stallion, 250 guineas ; Young Melbourne, 250 guineas ; Glengarry, 3 CO guineas; Dainty Davy, 150 gs; Old Times, 150 gs. Telegraphic communication with the South is restored, after four days interruption. The mails from the South were, on Saturday, conveyed across the damaged portion of the Rangitata bridge, in a trolly, but the railway authorities estimate that until tne repairs are completed, the risk is so great that they will not undertake the conveyance of mails. It will probably be Thursday before repairs are completed. Meanwhile, great damage is being done north of Christchurch, and many parts of Kaiapoi are completely under water.
