INQUEST.
An inquest on the death of Andrew Burfc, whose decease wo reported in our last issue, was held at Howe's Foxton Hotel, on Wednesday morning, J. F. Rockstrow, Esq. Coroner, presiding. The following jury were sworn in : — Messrs Flower (foreman), Liddell, Nye, Macpherson,Perreau, Eobinson, I M'Padyen, C. Howe, H'Beth, Davidson. Konaldson, and C. Collins. Frances Amelia Butt, sworn, said — I am the wife of William Butt, but left my husband four years ago, and have since lived with deceased, whose name was Andrew Burt ; he was about 27 years of age, and was a native of Melbourne ; 1 was in tho house when he 4ied ; he had been drinking heavily for 8 weeks ; I have been in Foxton about 3 weeks ; he complained four days before his death of a pain in his head ; he had not been drinking for several dkvsnre^
since tlio Tuesday befor^^^^^^^H I visited the house everye^^^^^^H ho died there was some che<^H^^H and bread, in the house ; tn^^^^H no bottles but the liuim&y^^^^H the vinegar for me -when h^^^fl^^l confined, but I never usec^^^^^^H he died, he had nothing *|^^^^^^| Dr. Charles George 3^^^^^^| Otaki, said— l have m ®^^^^^H mortem examination °^^^^^^| I supposed him to be &I^^^^^^^| two years of age; he^^^^^^J muscular, and well * cod^^^^H there were no wounds\i|^|^^^| the surface of the peculiar livid and c |^^^^^^| pearance, especially roi^^^^^^^H on opening the skull, taPi^^^^^fl presented a veiy dark and o^^^^^H appearance ; the lungs *qj^^^| collapsed, and peculiarly un9l^^H and dark ; the lungs were sej^^f the heart was empty, with the e^^H tion of the right ovicle, w&ifij^^^| tamed clots of blood ; the live^^H an unhealthy appearance.^ lQ^^^l morbid and bluish ; the gaUi^^^| and stomach were perfectly C^^^| the latter presented a morbid &^^^| ance ; I attribute the cause of^^^H to the excessive use of alcoc^^^H celerating bronchitis, underJ^^H deceased evidently labored*-^^^H bronchitis had boen aggravat<^^^M thus induced a circulation o^^^H blood about the body;" he blood poisoning; something^^^H have been done by medical tro^^^^| but he appears to have had z^^^H By the foreman— The clots^^^H in the righT ovicle of the heart^^H account for the pains, which we^^H agony of deatli ; I conclude tha^^H alcohol had accelerated hisJ^^H from bronchitis; I do not thm^^H drinking of either the linim^^H vinegar would cause the sympto^^fl have described; there was no^^^| smell of alcohol about the body^^H After the Coroner had sumin^^H the Jury returned a verdict ina^^H ance with the medical testimony^^M
