MARLBOEOUGH VI NELSON.
Much interest was taken yesterday in the trial match on the Coiiegogrounds!, when 22 of the best player* of the district fated the selectors. In. spite, of the deplorably muddy ground a good exhibition of hockey wn# given, the most noticeable players being Miss Lewis (goal), Miss Pike (full-back), Miss Campbell and Miss Gleeson. The selectors (Messrs Robson and Jcnes) ha.ye picked the following team to represent Marlhorough against Nelson on Saturday:—Goal, Miss Lewis (G.); full-backs, Miss Piko (0.G.) and Miss Fmlay (R.); halves, Miss Horo;au (A.); forwards, Misses s I'urrell, (0.), Murphy (0.G.), Gleeson (11.), Simpson ((■>.), and H. Boyes (A.). Emergencies: Back, Miss JMclsaac 'Pt.); forward, Miss Moore. (G.) This is a very strong team and 7 should give a good account of itself. The team will play in dark skirts and dark blouses relieved with yellow. Nelson will play in saxe-blue and" vhite. The Nelson team is o.s follows: — Goal, Miss Lethaby: full-backs. Miss Oldershaw (ca.pt.), Mrs Winter; halves, Misses Boyce, ' Karsten, Hume;; forwards. Misses I. 'McGrath, Aydon, McLachlan, Pollard, and Barnett. Tho team will arrive on Friday "iglit, and will play Marlborough -oil Saturday, and Pioton on Monday, retummg to Nelso.l after the Picton match. The rep. match will be played on the show grounds, which the A. and P. Association has generously granted to the Waterlea Committee.
