SUPREME COURT.
A MURDER CHARGE,

DUNEDIN; Aug. 6. John Sharp, a farmer, • aged 72 years, was charged at tbo Supreme Court to-day with, at Rongahere on May 15th, murdering his daughter Sopliia McLea:i Sharp, aged seven jeaa-s.. When asked how he pleaded, thef/aeeused replied "Guilty to Sophia Sharp," but not guilty to "Sophia McLean Sharp."
Mr Irwin, who appeared for the accused, said that he had only been informed that the accused intended to enter that plea, and the only question was as to the man's mental condition!. There was no question at all on the facts. v The judge;said that the ma-tter could be left to the jury, and tho case proceeded.
