HIDE AND TALLOW SALE

The fortnightly sale of hides and tallow was held in Wellington on Friday. Hides.—A good catalogue of superconditioned hides was submitted to the usual, attendance of tanners and eyportors. Price? were somewhat erratic. As compared with the values current at the sale held a fortnight ago there was a slight advance all round. The market was quiet, with practically no inquiry.. lit consequence of shippers and local manufacturers showing little disposition to operate, the majority of the offerings were withdrawn from, sale.
