MURDER OF Mil BROOKE.

Mr Brooke was chatting with Mr Cotton, the railway, manager, in the Board room of the Dublin South-east-ern railway Company when an armed party entered the room and tired a volley. Half of Brooke's head was t-hot . away. The three assassins escaped unrecognised. One bullet hit the typewriter of the lady secretary, who was working in an adjoining room, Cotton' dived under the table and escaped. Thursday s shooting occurred in tho busiest centre of Dublin. Crowds who were leaving the theatres rushed the tiams aaid ran to shelter while bullets were flying. The struggle was brier. The miiitaiy who were guarding the bank experienced much concentrated fire, and then surrendered.
Armed masked men burned down Charletmont Fort, in Armagh, an ancient residence that was being usod as a, Government arsenal.
