Archbishop Mannix replied: "No; it is the regular visit to the Holy See. It if* expected of every bishop. There is no political asp&ct in ray trip through the United States. I am only taking the opportunity of seeing America, but everywhere I lmvo been I have- found enthusiasm for the Irish cause to bo overwhelming." Archbishop Mannix replied: "The Conventions' action was due to the fact, perhaps, that the Irish vote is not sufficiently large to bring about an endorsement of recognition, but we must remember that more than 400 of the 1000 delegates at the Democratic Convention voted for recognition."
