SATURDAY'S RUGBY MATCHES. CENTRAL AND OPAWA LEADING IN SENIOR GRADE. | The various grades in the Rugby competitions advanced another stage jon Saturday. Conditions were satisfactory, but again delay in commencing- the principal games was responsible for ithe state of semi-dark-*m:ss which prevailed in the concluding moments. There is need for some drastic action to prevent a recurrence of the dilatoriness in getting games under way. The results of Saturday's play were as follows: — SENIOR, Opawa, 5 drew with Awatere 5. Central 6 defeated Moutere 3. JUNIOR. Opawa 5 defeated Awatere 0. Waitohi 6 drew with Moutere 6. THIRD. Opawa 9 defeated Central 3. The senior competition followed its lemarkable course. The meeting of Opawa and Awatere resulted in a drawn game, and the Central and Moutere encounter was decided by penalty goals. Central have clung tenaciously to Opawa during the season and they have now joined tho blacks in leading position, Moutere and Awatere being also , even four points behind. The positions of the teams are as follows: — Points Comp. scored. Points. Opawa 54 11 Central 50 11 Moutere 49 « 7 Awatere 38 7 . Waitolii's premier position in the junior grade is not seriously assailed, and Opawa continue to lead the way in the third series.
