ALLEGED CRUELTY

FATHER BEFORE THE COURT

[Piikss Association.') WELLINGTON, Feb. 25. At the Magistrate's Court this afternoon Charles Grayndler, secretary of the Shearers' Union, was charged with having ill-treated and beaten his three children, aged eight, eleven, and thirteen years. The medical evidence showed thnt the children were bruised on the heads and bodies, the bruises having apparently been caused by a strap, stick, and kicks. Some bruises were accompanied by abrasions. The children were suffering from shock, but were well nourished.
