..•< [PBBfcl ABSOCUTXOS.V AUCKLAND, I.Jan. 28. A motor-car accident with fatal results occurred at Penrose. Arthur John Horton, a married man, aged 48 years, was cycling, when a motorcar, travelling at a great rate, overtook him and ran him down. Although an eye-witness of the accident beckoned to the driver of tho car, the latter merely turned his head and dashed on, leaving, his viptim on the roadway with concussion of the brain, fracture of the base of the skull, and other severe injuries to the head and face, and internal bleeding. The car was not driven by • its owner, but had been appropriated by two persons at present unknown. It was found deserted later at Onehunga. Horton was a greaser at the Westfield Freezing Work. He died m jthe hospital.'
