EXPORT OF APPLES.

The Director 'of Horticulture (Mr T. W. Kirk) has written aa fallows to Nelson with reference to. the Government guarantee on the; export of applies:— "Government allowance will be made as under:—Cost of cases, including making, and nails, packing, wood, wool, and paper, shed expenses, shipping charges- or company's commission for selling, accounting for bill of lading,, export entry, etc., not exceeding. 2s 9d per ease. In making claims a,t this end, ii any, oach item must be. specified. New Zealand charges will be computed from the time the. fruit is placed on rail, or at the usual shipping, port, and will include wharfage and rail or steamer freight, to the shipping port. Insurance, etc., freight, and all other subsequent charges will be allowed. The Government guarantee (of Id per 1b) will cover, fruit on consignment to approved destinations. The fruit must be packed in Government standard cases, graded, packed, and branded in accordance with the: proposed export regulations (a, copy, ofc which will be forwarded later)/ "The /arieties approved for export trT the Northern Hemisphere under the Government guarantee, of Idi per lb, net are as follow: —G-ravenstein, Golden Pippin, Worcester, Eearmain, Cox's Orange, Willie Sharpy Eibston Pippin, Jonathan, Reinette. dv Canada, Adams' Pearmain, Parlin's Beauty, ' Delicious, Esopus SpizenBtrg, Dunn's Favorite ((Muzrro's), Scarlet Nonpareil, Scarlet Pearmain, London Pippin (Five Crown}, Cleopatra., Yellow Newtowiu Pippin, Borne Beauty, Statesman, Sittrmers, and such other varieties as are approved by the Director of: Horticulture.
