Mr Massey stated on Saturday that he had received a cable stating that several important alterations will have to be made in the vessel chosen as most suitable for the New Zealand training ship. The Dominion will have to bear the cost, of the alterations. Though in receipt of no definite information, he expected, the vessel to be about 2000 tons. The Prime Minister also said that the cruiser to take the place of the PhiloiKel until we are able to take charge of a vessel of the Canterbury type Riay arrive in May or June next. He expressed the opinion that when the Canterbury cruiser comes this temporary vessel will probably be kept on the station as part of the British fleet in New Zealand waters-
