TRANSFER OF L.I.P. SECTIONS.
[to the editor.]
Sir,—l notice in the last report of the Land Board that that body is beginning to wake up and put its foot down on the question of the transferring of L.I.P. sections. I think it is not before time. The Board has undoubtedly granted transfers in the past that would never for one moment have been considered by any other Board in ths Dominion.
We have known men in this district holding L.I.P. sections that would keep themselves, their wives, and families in comfort, and yet ke have seen the wife apply for a. further section, and of course get it without any trouble whatever. I don't blame the parties who apply for the transfers, but I do blame the Board for granting them. AVhen a man who has had a good time on an L.I.P. section and moves out with some thousands of unearned increment, turns round and asks the Board to transfer another one to him, he should be told point-blank to go and buy freeholds
LEASEHOLD.
