The untimely and tragic death o£ Mr John Falconer Macdonald as aj result of a motor-cycle accident oni the Akaroa road, on Sunday, came as a great shock to his relatives an<i many friends (sa.ys the Christchurchl Press). Mr Macdonald, who was 411 years of age, was born at Westr' Porirua, Wellington, his father, Mri J. D. Cr. Macdonald, originally hail* ing from C'romarty, in the Highlands of Scotland. The deceased was educated at Thorndon School ancfi Wellington College, and for twenty, years was connected with the legal firm of Brandon, Hislop, and! Brandon. As a result of an accident to his eyes several years ago, he was forced to abandon legal work, andl retired to ri small holding near; Picton, where ho had since • resided. He was a keen, cyclist, and his articles descriptive of cycling tours, under the pen name of "Aurora,"' have been a feature of . Wheeling ever since the inception of that journal. The deceased was on » short holiday visit to his' brother, Mr G. J. Macdonald (Cliristehurca Nursery Co.), at the time of. his death. He was a nephew of the late Dr Macdonald, and ' also, by; marriage, of the late Dr,l>onald^ both of Lyttelton. His "many excellent qualities, and his cheerful andl loveable disposition, endeared. him to a very wide circle of friends.
