[Pkess Association.] AUCKLAND, Aug. 17. Frank Hector MeQuarrie, aged 4 years, of Mount Albert, died in tho hospital to-day as the result of scalds received by falling into a tub of boiling water. An inquest was held this morning into the death of a returned soldier, Private W. E. Nilson, M.M., who was found shot through the head on Mount Eden on Friday evening. The deceased returned by the Marama about, a month ago. He was classed as a mental convalescent case, and was sent to the Avondale Mental Hospital. He was discharged last week, and, coming before a board, seemed nervy, but that was all. The Lc-ord therefore decided in send him to the Narrow Neck . Convalescent Home.> He did not, however, go to the home. A. verdict of suicide while in a state of mental depression was returned.
