A PEACE MEMORIAL

[to the editor.]

Sir,—-I had the pleasure of listening t« youl' able railway delegates, and I was not .surprised to see our morning papers announce that one of them is a candidate for Parliamentary Jionors. The question of a suitable .and popular peace memorial. is being keenly discussed in 'Christenurch, and we should sfion have an indication of public opinion. I was very interested to hear that a cairn on Mabel Island Avould probably be Marlborough's provincial eft'orb. If you people did dseide im this direction itmight have a far-reaching effect on the decisions of other towns and districts lyito en route to Bluff, your monuments marking the northern end erf a ehaiti. PETER TROLOVE. Christehurch, IS/S/10.
