WELLINGTON, July 16. The Hon. Mr Wilford has made a. statement regarding the Government's proposals to increase the fish supply, to the Dominion. In order to encourage fishermen he proposes to recommend to the Government that advances should be made to fishermen for the purchase of suitable boats and fishing outfits, also that the erection of fish-killing and ice-making plants in outlying parts of the coast should be provided for in order to prevent a loss of fish in warm weather.

Mr Wilford will also suggest n bonus for fish canned and for fertiliser made from fish offal.

The Government has already authorised the placing of an order in England for £2000 worth of nets.
