The ordinary meeting of the Spring Creek Riv*r Board this month was attended by Messrs J. H. Sutherland (chairman), C. Matthews, A. J. Mills, J. O'Dwyer, and J. Watson. Messrs H Matthews and A. Fairhall waited on the Board and asked it* to do some protective work on the Wairau ■River ne.ir their properties. The flood-bank at FairhnlFs also required strengthening. Mr Vickers, the lessee of the Peninsula property, waited on the Board and asked that a small stock bridge be put across the Spring Creek stream to enable him to get his stock out when tho river was high. Ttie Board decided to visit the Peninsula, Mr Fairhall's, and Mr MatthcH-s's properties at an early date. The rate for the year was confirmed according to notice of motion> x It' was resolved that two rooms of the toamster's house at the Peninsula be papered. The Inspector reported that the Wair.au River from the railway bridge to Hillocks Road had benn cleared of growth. The debit balance was shown to be £797 Is sd.

Two first-offending inebriates were convicted and discharged by Mr A. J. Maclaine, J.P., this morning. Thomas Murphy was fined £1, in default seven days' imprisonment, for drunkenness. A charge made against Murphy of having obtained liquor during the currency of a prohibition order was withdrawn by leave of the Court.
