IN exercise of the powers vested in him in the Animals Protection Act, 1908, the Governor-General has exempted from the operation of section 'twenty-six of the said Act the Marlborough Acclimatisation Society, and Californian quail may be killed within the Marlborough Acclimatisation District (except in the areas reserved for game) from the 16th June, 1919, to the 31st July, 1919, both days inclusive; the number of Californian quail that may bo killed by any one person in any one day is restricted to not more than twenty-five head in all. Licenses are issued at £1 each ,by the Chief Postmaster at Blenheim and the Postmasters at Havelock, Canvastiown, Mahakipawa, Renwicktown, Timatanga, Kekerangii, Picton, Nydia Bay, Seddon, Snring Creek, Ward;, and Wairau Valley. , N.B.—There is no shooting season for native game this year ia the Marlboro ugh Acclimatisation District.
