Tlie only weak Jink in the local organisation to combat the influenza epidemic has now been strengthened. The Mayor is pleased to intimate that his reiterated appeal to the ladies of Marlborough to recruit the ranks of the small band of voluntary workers hss mot with a more satisfactory response-. Tho position today was that thore was sufficient assistance available to ease the tensioi. What tie authorities are aiming at is to have sxifficient capable ladies enrolled to meet any serious position which might arise, find this object is now nearer achievement. The following list gives the names of ladies who are either engaged in nursing at the present time or who have offered their services: Mesdames Collie, Robinson (Spring Greek), Hocking, D. P. Sinclair, May, B. F. Rothvvell, W. A. Sowman, and G. S. Hardy; Misses McKellar, B. Collie, M. Collie, D. Redwood, Noble-Adams, Fowler, Vavasour, C Clouston, M. Loughnan, Piggott, E. : Niccol, E. .Chuck, M. Gfoulton (Tita Marina), Anderson, A. Coull, Owen Jones, and j. McCa-be. Mrs T. Conch and Miss/P. Townshend, both of, Blenheim, have been nursing at Picton since the outbreak.
