The abovj paragraph, which appeared in tho Express last evening, has aroused "Dusty Rhodes" from. his long retirement. He. sends to - the Editor T,he following verses, which speak for themselves: — Some months ago, wh^n horrid warwas waging, Some gi Idy girls around the place> were raging Against young men they deemed grave duty missing, And heaping scorn oa scorn for not enlisting. Feathers white these maids continued sending, With taunting notes., their spleen l. was quite unending. The wonder was the victims, truth to tell, ' ' Did not attempt to smack them good and well. Now war is over a moz-o hideous foe, The pneumon coccus, makes his baleful throw.-. .•■'■ . :■■'.! Insidious works his will on hirnankind; ■-.■ , ■ / • His microbes- riding. hard on every wind. •.. Now is your chance, you feathersending maid, Now can your. patriotic debt I:e tfnly paid. ... ■..'*• .■•' The Mayor has called you for .i duty clear, .-.■•■'.......' . .;•... Up now and take it with no thought of fear.
