PERSONAL NOTES
Lieutenant Solomon, of the Royal Flying Corps, whose death through the collapse of his machine during the Zeppelin raid was reported in yesterday s issue, is probably Lieut. H. P. Solomon, well known in Blenheim a few years ago as traveller for Messrs Magnus, -Sanderson and Co., of Wellington. When war broke out the deceased was in business on his own account in Ghristciiureh. He went away with a Ne\v Zealand reinforcement as a sergeant, but/ subsequently transferred fc:> tho R.F.C.
Mr M. Taylor, Koromiko, has received word that his son, LanceOorpl. L. Taylor, v»'ns wounded on October 4th.
A message received to-day by Mr 11. D. Vavasour, of Ugbrooke, Marlborough, conveys the sad news that his eldest son, Second-Lieut. George M. Vavasour, was killed in action on the Western front on October 12th. The deceased officer left New Zealand with . the Twenty-third .Reinforcements, and was transferred to the Riflo Brigade in England. A brother who served at the front, as a member of the Royal Flying Corps, died in London some time ago after an operation.
