CONCERT AT HILLESDEN

A most successful children's patriotic concert was held in the Hillersden school last Friday evening. Ife was given by the pupils of the Hillersden and Want wood schools. The. concert opened with a tableau of "Britain and her Allies," followed by ai Japanese fan song, club swinging,, and recitations by pupils of the Wantwood school. Then came patriotic songs and Highland dancing by pupils of the Hillersden school—a camp-fire scene and song, and an exhibition ofi signalling, ambulance work, and. Maori haka by the Scout boys under the leadership of their Scoutmaster,, the Rev. H. B. White.

Great credit must be given to theteachers, Mrs F. L. Murray and Miss Mason, and Mr AVhite, for a mosfe enjoyable and successful entertainment, which was fully appreciated by, an overflowing audience which came from far and wide.

The concert concluded by a gift auction of a large cake presented by the teachers, which was purchased by Mr Roberts in behalf of the school children and presented to the men of the district now in. camp. Other items sold comprised goods presented by Mesdames Monro and Evans.

At the conclusion of the concert dancing was engaged-"in, ..and was much enjoyed. The Patriotic Funds- will be augmented to the extent of abopt £18.
