WiiS]fs«o¥eriaiicl Retail Sales in U.S. m^ ■ Jr ON July sth reports of 1264 CARS SOLD AT RETAIL in the United States were received at the Toledo headquarters of Willys-Overland Inc. This single day's business amounted to $1,048,202—A NEW MARK FOR WILLYS-OVERLAND RETAIL SALES. This amount is for NEW CARS ONLY, and does not include the money paid for freight shipments to the points of sale. On Ju.l? 2nd Willys-Overland Inc. received reports of 1104 retail sales—s9o3,72o worth of business. Three Trillion one hundred and fil'ty thousand dollars was approximately the. total of the Wilys-Overland retail business in the United States for the first week in July—despite the fact that there were only five working days m that week. This was a daily average of more than $626,000. At tins rate retail sales reported to the home office by Willys-Overland deilers in July will pass the sixteen million dollar mark anticipated by Willys-Overland officials. These sales were recorded in. the United States alone, and do not include Canadian nor foreign sales which are also exceeding oil previous records. ' "This record," comments John N. Willys, president of Willys-Overland Inc., "on top of the marvellous June showing, when the automobile buying public of the United States showed its faith in the comprehensive Willys-Overland line by purchasing $ L 1,150,000 \ orth of our cars, is incontrovertible evidence that the confidence, of the people, which wavered at the time of our plunge into the world war, has been fully restored, and is creating absolutely unprecedented sales conditions. In previous years automobile buying had commenced to taper off in the latter part of June and July. This year, June proved the biggest month we have ever experienced; July promises to go way beyond that mark. "Another reason which may be ascribed for theso unusual sales figures is the fact that the public is coming to realise more and more the possibilities of a motor-car. • "We are face to face vith problems that demand unique solutions. Our Regulars are now in France behind Forshing. The draft is to take hundreds of thousands more. Each man who stays behind will have to learn how to take of the work of his neighbor vho has gone to the front as well as his own task. "What better means to increase one's efficiency—whether by securing a, conreyance that enables you to see twice ac maay people in a day, or po sell twice as much goods, or whether to more fully refresh you for the next day's work—than the motor-car.*' Wintringham & Mitchell, OVERLAND AGENTS FOR MARLBOROUGH.
