LONDON, July 3. Lord Rhondda, at a Baby Week nfveefcing, said that 2000 babies under twelve months and 3000 under five were lost weekly owing to the want of knowledge of the necessities of life. Thousands might be saved. Cleaner atid healthier homes, better food, and greater care by mothers would have prevented the rejection of a million men for the army since the war beeran.
Mr Fisher, Minister for Education, deplored the fact that there were 100,000 stillborn babies yearly, equal to the casualties of a great campaign. Urgent housing reform was needed. Every cottage should have a hot water systora and a gas stove.
