" AUCKLAND, April 25. The hearing was, continued yester- • day of the charge against John Jones >of-conspiring with others for a continuance of the strike. Sub-Inspector Mcllvenejl- described the.arrest of the defendant and read letters and telegrams found in Jones's posßei-sion relating to federation affairs'. Among them was a series of letters and telegrams signed by Arbuckle, in which the policy of restriction was frequently referred to as the subject of a "ballot by the West 'Coast miners. The correspondence also referred to the eventual agreement of all miners there, except Millerton, to ■the. adoption of the .restriction policy. , . The hearing was adjourned.
