Venezelos on Christmas Day was.publicly excommunicated hv the authorities of the Greek Church. The Government opposed the notion, but the reservists forced the Metropolitan of Athens to perform the ceremony. . . . A gor-y bull's head was placed in. a square made of stones. The Metropolitan, with averted head, .pronounced the anathema. The reservists marched . t>ast shouting the anathema. Fifty thousand men, women, and children cast stones, cursing M. Venezelos as ft traitor.
