■LONDON, Sept. 13. . The Somme offensive is likely to absorb interest for many days. There arc excellent f.ngns that progress is becoming somewhat easier, ;and the gradual Investment of 'Chanlnes and Co rabies promises earjy results. La Yictoire, a Paris newspaper^ ascribes more i-apid advance to the thinning of the German line owing to removals towards Roumania.
An Anisterdf.ni message says that Ilindenburg is relying on his artillery and machine-guns to hold the northwestern end of the line, andi is moving his troops to the Somme front vo capture two miles of the ChaulnesRoye railway, -the holding of which by. the French embarrasses the German supply sy/tem. ■' M. Miircol Hutin, writing in the Echo do Paris. snyf> that General yon Eulow, an old Hmdenburg general,, has l?een appointed to tho Gorman command south of the Somme. ■
