I A somewhat unusual incident j occurred at St. Mark's Church, Weli lington; during sermon-time on Sunday morning (states the Times). The! vvj.car (the Rev. Mr Askew) had been, preaching an earnest sermon on the duty of Christians in regard to the war, emphasising especially the need for economy, and was enumerating, i towards the close of tho sermon,. I various directions in which savings. j could be effected, when a young man,, ! evidently carried away by his zeal as an. "anti-smoker and a prohibitionist,, called out: "What about tobacco and' drink ?" The' vicar proceeded quietly | with his sermon as if nothing -had: happened, but a churchwarden amd a vestryman approached the young man-, and suggested the propriety of his leaving the church. This he promptly did, without causing any further' disturbance.
