TIMARU WOOL SALES
TIMARU, Dec. 1. For the first of. the season's wooi sales here 6070 bales, were offered, and only 67 bales remained unsold. The offering was less than a year ago r as many clips had been sold privately. All kinds, even woo.l out of condition, were well competed for. Competition generally was very keen", "but the sale was quieter than usual. French, American, and Dominion buyers weremost eager. The top price realised was 20d, for super half bred. The range of prices was:—Corriedale, 16d to 20d; medium ditto, 14d to 15i|d; inferior'ditto, 12£ dto 13|d; super threequarter and crossbred, 14id to 18Jd; medium ditto, 13d to 14£ d; inferior ditto, lljd to 123 d; best pieces, 12d to' 12£ d; medium pieces anci bellies, lOd to llfd; inferior ditto, 9£d to 92-d: locks, 4-J-d to 7d; crutchings, 9|d to 12Jd; scoured halfbred, 24Jd; three-quarterbred, 23d; halfbred, 21d; pieces, 20£ d. The prices are considered highly satisfactory, as the wool was not in such good condition as usual for this district, owing to the drought and strong winds.
