A peculiar accident at "Waipawa be*fel a Native man and woman, which might have led to' serious injury to the woman (says the correspondent of the Napier Telegraph.) They were driving along in ;i v;ig, when the horse grew restive, and seemed inclined to shy. The Maori jumped down and seized the horse's head, but the fractious beast reared up and back, with the result that both shafts snapped-, and the gig fell -Backwards, precipitating the woman and the luggage on to the roadway. Excepting shock and a few slight bruises, the woman escaped injury.
