The Glasgow Daily Record and Mail was 'prosecuted under the Defence of the Realm Act, charged with using a secret code to convey news of air raids, naval engagements, and bombardments. j The defendants, pleaded that the code was intended to facilitate delivery of messages. : The information was "submitted to the Press Bureau before publication.
