(Received Nov. 80, 9 p.m.) ; LONDON, Nov. 30. Sir John French reports: A party <of our droops on the 25th forced an entrance to the enemy's trenches near Gommecourt wood, bombarded several deep dug-outs, and then withdrew. We sprang a mine in front of | Oivenchy the same night and '' destroyed two enemy galleries,^ causing ; considerable casualties. We bom- j ; barded various . portions, of the onemv's trenches. During the Jast few days the enemy's artillery has "been active east of Avely, north-east of Loos, east of Neuye Chapelle, and at Armentieres and Ypres. On the'2Bth the enemy's aeroplanes ; were active. There were fifteen aerial : encounters. One of the German machines was brought down. Une of our pilots fought five aeroplanes in a single night. Successful bombimo- attacks were made against the • German aerodrome at Gits and the .ammunition factory at La Oiapelefefce. Fourteen machines attacked the former and nineteen the latter, doing considerable damage. All returned snfely. A British aeroplane on the 28th destroyed an enemy submarine off Middelkerke. It was seen to break in half. [The High Commissioner confirms the above.]
