BRITISH CONTEMPT FOR THE
HUNS
LONDON", Aug. 26. A Danish fisherman states that he parsed the British submarine El 3as she lay aground on Saltholm Island, in the Sound, on Thursday week. ' He offered to take off those of the crew, bi.it the assistance was courteously declined!. A few hours afterwards German destroyers arrived. The British were entering their boats when the men were summoned to return to the submarine by the blasts of a whistle. They coolly leturned to their stations on dec-k, some calmly commencing to play cards, while two youngsters became absorbed in a game of cliess. The Germans drew closer the British taking not the faintest notice. A torpedo was fired anti exploded close to the submaiine. Words of command, rang out, and the crew dressed and stood at attention. They were directly facing the enemy, motionless as graven mir.ges, when the Germans tired a broadside.
