A conference was- held ;>t Government Hou.se this afternoon ;;t the invitation of his Excellency for tlio purpose of discussing the prospects of the formation of a National Cabinet. The Government was represented by the Right Hon. ile Mas^ey and the Hon. Messrs Allen, Herries, and Herdman, and the Opposition by Sic Joseph Ward, Messrs Russell and Myers, and Dr McN&b.

The conference lasted lor tv.o hours, and on tJic return to .Parliament Buildings MrMassey announced that he had no statement to make regarding the proceedings. Sir Joseph Ward guve a .vimilar reply.
