The hon. secretary of the Patriotic* Fund has received a telegram from "Colonel Collins, who is in charge of the New Zealand Hospital Ship,, stating that, all articles for the ship must lie in Wellington on Saturday next, 12tli ilist. The Prime Minister states that it has been finally arranged that the New Zealand High Commissioner (the Hon. Thomas Mackenzie) will have the term of his appointment extended.
The death is reported of a wellknown and respected resident of the Takaka district, in the person of Mr P. Hunter, of Long Plain, who arrived in Nelson by the ship Thomas Harrison in 1842.

Discussing the possible shortage of the sugar supply for the Dominion Mr W Philson, manager for the Colonial Sugar Company at Auckland states that the company -will have no diinc'ulty in keeping New Zealand supplied if the requirements^are gauged by the experience of the last thirty years, which were found to tie from 750 to 850 tons per week.

A meeting of the M&nafgnaent Committee of .the Mjirlboi-ffugh Rugby Union was held last night, there being present: Messrs H. R. Bagge (chairman), W. Lamb, G. Griffiths, P. T. Rhodes, and V. N. Bcasley (secretary). It was resolved that .the Ground Committee's attention be drawn to the lack of padding on the posits and the marking of the fiveyards line at tho Redwood Street Domain, and the. secretary was instructed to write to other clubs-on the'same matter. Tt was decided to inform the Opawa Club that the apgliications for /transfers from the !c?ntral players would bo considered. A discussion took place es to the interchange of players in the A. and B. teams, and it was. pointed out that the resolution, of June Bth, 1914, covered the mat/Lor. Mi- La.mb asked to^ have Mr P. J. Hannan's name added to the list of referees.

Tho staging and the dressing have been further developed, and the general presentation ma.y be expected to be one of the best effort® yet seen in Blenheim-on tke part of juveniles. The proceeds are to be devoted to the Tenjth Mounted Regimental Band after defraying the cost of the mounting and tho chiklren's dresses, and it is to be hoped that the public will take ithis opportunity of displaying their appreciation of the .excellent manner in which the Band has come to tho front in connection with the many taud various public functions associated with tho war.
