The Morning Post says, that coalition is a great experiment, but must be made a success. .If it fails the country will be bankrupt of;resource. The paramount obligation is to xip-hoid-the Government, even at the expense, of tolerating. errors which at other times invite censure.
The Daily Mail thinks th;vt Mr Lloyd George's appointment -will satisfy the country. If Mr- BoJfour's appointment deprives the ■country- of Lord.Fisher's.services it cannot be re-g-arded as good. . - The Times welcomes the Department of Munitions, but regrets that the Cabinet is confined to party leaders. There should be a larger element of men whose services to the Empire have been outside domestic controversies. r ~.'■■

courage in the crisis. The nation will respond readily to all that the most resolute leadership can demand. The Chronicle says: Mr Balfour is a brilliant man in the wrong place. The crisis arose owing to a clash between a brilliant politician and tht> | country's greatest sailor. The nation f.wili be shocked and astounded to find ! that the politician remains. Lord Haldane's departure is the.real weakening of the nation's council, and Sir Edward Carson's appointment is adeplorable scandal.
