LONDON WOOL SALES.
[Prkw Association.] (Received Dec. 9, 11 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 8. At the wool sales conducted by Jacomb, Son and Co. and Buxton, Ronald and ...Co., 9538 bales were offered. There was an excellent attendance. Except' for a few New Zealand slipes and scoured, for which there was animated competition at late rates, the catalogue was entirely composed of merinos, for w^ieii competition was very weals. There are plenty of American orders on the market, but they cannot be executed because of insufficient information with regard to the guarantees required. Sir George Reid circulated an announcement that any reasonable .guarantees would b,e accepted, but this was not considered sufficiently definite to justify operations. Some traders declare that the best solution of the difficulty would be for the Government to declare wool contraband of war.
Shaffcy combing declined 10 per cent, and short faulty parcels 15 to 25 per cent.
