AUSTRIA SAVES HER ARTILLERY.
RETREAT BEFORE DEFEAT.
(Received Deo. 8, 9.50 a.m.). PETROGRAD, Dec, 7. The Military Bourse Gazette coiwmented on the small percentage of Austrian artillery captured compared with other arms of the service. The official War Messenger explains that since the second Austrian re~ treat in Poland the Austrian artillery has invariably been withdrawn before the final battle issue. , i The' "Gazette declares that tins amounts to an admission that the Austrians begin to retreat hef ore being actually defeated. . : The journal also points out tibat the large proportion-.:* of commissioned officers among the Austrian captives is in striking contrast to the German officers, who fall, fighting.
