UNEMPLOYED IN CHRISTCHURCH.
CHRISTCHUROH, Oct. 20. A parade of 100 unemployed as■semhled outside the I/abor Oifice^this morning,'' and was addressed by Mr B. Howard, secretary of the Laborers Union, who advised them to camp on ihe doorstep of tlie Public Works Office, as that office was blocking their engagement. He said tha& tne chief officer of the Department would visit Christchurch the following day, and they must make his life a misery till he gave them work. The crowd was photographed1 in order to convince the Minister fbr ; Public Works''of (the existence of unemployed, and it dispersed after agreeing to besiege the Public Works Office at an early hour next day.
