; SYDNEY, April 13. There was fine weather and a largo ; 'attendance for the races. The rain on : Thursday improved the track and surroundings. The New Zealand horses failed to run prominently. Results: Rous Handicap: Christian Brother 1, Simon Frisco 2, Beck's Lagea- 3. Nine started. The winner led most of the way and won by five lengths. Time, 2min 26s>ecs. Place Handicap: Matouree 1, Aleconner '2, Erungella 3. Sixteen started, including Bon Reve. Won by two and a half lengths. Bon Reve was eighth. Time, 2min 30sec. | Second Steeplechase: Don Q. 1, Tire Miser 2, Fiddlestring 3. Five started. Don Q. led almost the whole way, and won "by ten lengths. Time, 6 mm 56|secs. ; A.J.C. Plate: Cagou 1, Aurofodina ;2, Lilyveil 3. Eight started, including .Midnight Sun, Sinapis^ and Bon j Ton. Cagou soon assumed the. lead, : wliich "he held throughout. Aurofodina and I^ilyreil made an effort in the straight, hut were unable to ca.tch the leader, who won by threequarters of a length. Time, Smiii 37
Second Nursery: Giru 1, Carlita 2, Velours and Spica dead heat 3. Twenty started. At the distance Spica looked like winning, but Giru and Caa-lita finished fast. Won by a neck. Time, Imin ISsecs. Final Handicap: Malthusian 1, Simhke 2, Lindera 3. Fourteen started. Silver Lad led into the straight, but at the distance Malthusian, witih a splendid run, followed "by Sunlike, smothered the leaders and won by threequa.rters of a length. Time, 2min 15secs. Paterson and Conolly, owners of Lilyveil, were the biggest stake winners, taking £5864.
