MR SKINNER'S FAREWELL,

[Special to Express.]

WELLINGTON, March 21. At a meeting of the Land Board today, after confirmation of the ballot, Mr W. H. Skinner announced bhat •this was the last meeting of the Marlborough Land Board he would preside a.t. He thanked, the imembers for their loyal support, and expressed ■ regret at severance of connection with them. . Members eulogised Mr Skmner s administration and tact and his various capacities, all speaking feelingly. Mr Skinner paid a pleasant tribute to the executive officers, specially mentioning Messrs Burns, Welch, and Townshend, whose energy was most valuable. Lastl night Mr Skinner and the Board were the guests of Mr J. Boyd, the County Chairman, and several residents, it being the last time Mr Skinner would visit Kaikoura in his official capacity, and a pleasant imgromptu social evening ensued, Mr kinner being wairmly received. Much regret is expressed locally at. Mr Skinners-departure from Marlborough, for Kaikoura fully recognises the good work done throughout' the pfovince, and especially for this .^district. The Board visited. Lynton in the Afternoon. . ■•
