MARSHLANDS v. WAIRAU.

Wairau's participation in this match was not at all creditable, and Marshlands secured. a victory by seven wickets. The batting generally was not projinc, and Wairau, with only six memW-s of the selected team playing, made but 66 in eaoh innings, Ferry (21 not out), Hylton (14), and Mills (10) on the first occasion, and Chisholm (28 not out) on the second being the only Wairau batsmen to rise at all above mediocrity. The Marshlands' first innings realised only 97, M. Neal ,(21), H. Neal (17), and Robinson (16) being the chief contributors to this total. Left with 36 runs to get to win, the visitors accomplished' this task for the loss .of three wickets, Whittle being more', vigorous./, than usual in contributing 21 not out.
