According to repoi*ts .from Christchurch, G. Atkinson, ; the holder. of the world's aiid New Zealand1 records for the 220 yards brieast sta*oke at swimming, is in gJ'eat form again this season. In addition to breast-stroke swimming, Atkinson is training assiduously for distance races, and it is stated that, if Champion is to retain his present proud position, all the New Zealand1 records from-440'yards upwards will be lowered at the championship gathering to be held in Blenheim next' month. Swimming the breastrstiroke in a trial over 220 yards recently, Atkinson cut the distance out; in 3min. Bsec.—^which is almost equaL tO; his world's reeord-r-and says that he can improve on this time.
