OUT-LIED.
An old farmer was noted for boasting about -the products of his farm. So one day a neighbor, thinking to take a rise out of him, sent his man to ask if he could have the loan of his cross-cut caw to cut a- turnip up, so as to get :it in the oarfc. He was not quite sure, however,
that he had had the best of it when he received the following reply:— "You should have had the saw with pleasure, but I have justi got it fast in a potato."
