It is stated that the Hon. R. MeNab will be a candidate at next* election in the Opposition interest for the Dunedin West seat, now held by the Hon. J. A y Millar. Mr W. Belcher, secretary of the Seamen's Union at Dunedin, will, it is understood,: oontesH the seat as a Labor candidate. An announcement of considerable social interest was made in Wellington on Thursday in the shape of, aji engagement between Mrs T. G. Macarthy and Mr Walter Reid. Mrs Maearthy is the widow of the late Mr T.G. Macarthy, who made such a magnificent bequest to tlie Wellington province last year. The marriage will take place «at an early date. -
